Re: Cautionary Note.

Directly on getting back to base [ the end of Row E ] l took the blank firer out and shot the crew man [ for wearing inflammable trousers]  Chris. Hmm that is a strict disciplinary regime. There is not much of a compensation culture in the Red Army, Spike. I don't anticipate any claims...

Cautionary Note.

Had a good time at the Raunds show - thanks Nigel. T34 was running well, the action figures (for you Robert) stayed on, and I was enjoying jam- free blank firing - up to five in a row between re-loads. :) Then, after one more shot, the smoke seemed to take longer to clear. It started to get a bit th...

Re: The Tiger in saving private Ryan ?

I thought the SPR "Tiger" is the T34 based mock-up in the diorama in Duxford's Land Warfare Hall. I have just seen the Russian film "Ballad of a Soldier" which also has T34/85 based mock-ups of Tigers / Mk IVs. This doesn't spoil the film for me. Mind you it is more love story than war film. In the ...

Re: Snow woe - Tips on track link replacement needed.

Thanks for tips. Today the sun shone and I was able to change a broken link in a reasonable time with minimal blood loss. To re-connect the track, I made the join on the ground below the road wheels instead of on top as I'd done in the blizzard. Easier this way to lean on the tank with a knee, squee...

Re: Snow woe - Tips on track link replacement needed.

Yes it is indeed a top off job to adjust tension on the T34 and I wasn't equipped for that. I did flop over the thing - partly in exhaustion - to squash the suspension down. I hope no one was watching the spectacle  Before all this I did attempt a run on one track but this was no good in the s...

Snow woe - Tips on track link replacement needed.

At last! I had the time and the snow to give my T34 a run out. Things were going pretty well with everything working and even the blank firer popping off repeatedly without jamming. Then the first broken track happened. May be it was the wrong sort of snow and an over ambitious turn but there I was ...

Re: T34-85 arrived in town big as a nugget and golden Green

I like the Mariya figure - not at all like the tractor driving stereotype. Is it a sculpt based on the 1/1 version? It looks like the beardy crewman is going to ply her with vodka to get into her coveralls - not good for crew discipline but scope for a 1/6 scale collectors club type photo-story as p...

SONG: "T34" + VID

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGmOrsmljY8 If you keep waqtching, there are some nice pics from 40 secs on. Who is going to write a number "Challenger 2" I wonder. Has any other tank had a song composed in its honour? BTW I found this trying to track down another Russian pop song by Lyube (see Komba...

Hi Nigel,
Since it's near me too, I'd like to try and make that one too with 1/6 T34 on 40.675.
