German tanks of the Red Army

A couple of links that may be of interest: 1. New pics of captured German tanks in Red Army service - lots of Panzer IV and some Panthers - will offer lots of scope for unusual paint jobs. I'm going for the Balaton Panther G I think http://www.rkkaww2.armchairgeneral.com/galleries/axiscaptured/axisc...

Pobediteli -The Victors -Multimedia Map

Found by chance - an excellent Russian site translated into English. Gives a superb overview and chronology of the Eastern Front with audio from veterans, video and stills. Put aside a couple of hours to do it justice.

Re: Marking ideas for a T-34/85

Alexander Suvorov was an 18th Century Russian Generalissimo and War Hero - hence suitable name for a tank to meet with Unit Commissar's approval.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b27/DaveT34/Model%20T34%20superimposed%20on%20background/t13.jpg Sean, Here's mine heavily Photoshopped. I based it on a pic in "The Eastern Front: Armour and Camouflage" by Zaloga and Gransden. The slogan meens "Onward to Berlin" and No. 82 apparently featured in ...

Re: Info needed on Mariya Oktyabrskaya

Hi Brett, In case you haven't checked the RKKA site lately - Andrey has translated stuff from the links he put up about this tank driving heroine. It seems the tank she bought, named "Combat she-friend" (probably lost a bit in translation!) outlived her and made it to Berlin! Sounds a good subject f...

Re: Info needed on Mariya Oktyabrskaya

Brett, The guys who will probably be able to help you on this are Alex and Andrey on this forum. http://www.armchairgeneral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=135 They provide lots of translation and did a bit of digging for me before. They are a bit prickly if you quote Max Hastings and Antony Beevor th...

Re: GREAT BRITAIN

Sadly, I think you are right to sound a note of caution Bryan. The Hate Crimes Units of Police Forces around the country do get complaints about things said and written in all media and sometimes go to extraordinary lengths to investigate. Having said that, I will voice a few of my opinions. Change ...
