Re: whats on your bench

Wished I coulld get vaguely close to my bench! For nearly 2 months the bench has been covered in just about everything , but nothing related to tanks. We've just had an extension built and a doorway into the utility room from the workshop was blocked up, so loads of mess. I've spent the last week fi...

Re: VE day celebration ROYAL GUNPOWDER MILLS 2nd - 4th MAY

Robin, Would hope to be able to do at least one day, but ultimately might not be possible. I probably won't be able to give a definitive answer before the middle of April. We have an extension being built, starting Monday. If all goes well it should be finished by the beginning of April, which gives...

Spalding Model Engineering show 25-26th April

At the London Model engineers exhibition we were contacted about this show. They had been trying to contact the club and not had a lot of luck, hence the posting. At the moment with one thing and another I can't make it but if anyone is interested in going you can find all the information http://www...

Re: new rear deck mark 1 liger

If you are going to replace the rear grill, then realistically you would be better off replacing the radiator cover as well because the grill is hinged on that. You would have a job drilling the holes for the hinge pins. If you intent to replace the engine hatch, again you have the same problem with...

Re: new rear deck mark 1 liger

Paul, It depends on what your objective is. If you just want to replace the grills and covers using ones by Armortek, then you can cut out and sand down the rear deck without removing the whole deck. But you will need to have everything bolted down to put the strength back. It's also advisable to ru...

Re: Repainting a M1T tank

Difficult to tell without seeing it, but if there is a long object about 8 inches or so and about 4 inches wide , covered in heat shrink ( maybe red ) with wires coming out of one end, it is what is affectionately known as the brick. Mark is probably the best person to contact, he knows them better ...

Re: Repainting a M1T tank

The original paint, assuming it has never been repainted, it should be a cellulose base paint. You can paint acrylic over the top of that without too many problems, the other way around it will react. If you are not sure seal or peel.

Re: Fury

Saw the film last night. For once the accuracy of the vehicles and equipment is superb, for a change they used the right kit. Although 131 is in the film, it's a bit like the tank in warhorse, very briefly, but nevertheless it's a real one even if it does get it in the ass. There is a story but in m...
