"Dear Tank Club
It is with pleasure that we would like to invite you to attend a new model show this year at Weston-Super-Mare Beach, should be right up your street. The show as you can see in the link below is about Large scale fighter model aircraft, but it would be nice to have you there on the Beach, at the north end by where the public come, you could be the first in the trade area, your part would be a display area quite large, you can dig and build up a course that you feel fit. and trundle down the beach and back, the show will be advertised on flying forums and shows, mags etc, and if you are interested i would leave you to advertise as you feel fit, you would also go onto the site below.
Bryan The Bastard-JagdPanther 132, Ermintrude-SdKfz251 133, Thors Hammer Stug IV 135, Arwen 1/4 Panther 136, 137!!, Iveco 75R15 In Service!
Wouldn't be happy about running on the sand, I've done it twice and regretted it once. If its windy its worse, it gets everywhere!
Not that many visitors generally get to that end of the beach, even if there is an attraction there. When the local craft market was moved there from the other end of the beach for a couple of weeks takings there dropped like a stone. I lived only 100 yards away for over 8 years so I do know what goes on on the beach.
I do wonder why this is being held on the beach when there is an expansive and much better suited disused airfield in Weston right next door to the Helicopter Museum with loads of space for all types of models, camping space, a boot sale next door on the Sunday morning and much better road access, loads of parking space etc. Its been used for car cruises and other events before.
Dunno who this Chris Willis is, but I'm wondering if he has thought the event through properly.
Just the thoughts of somebody who used to live on the spot!
