Hello Mark
This sounds like a great event and I am interested.
Only one problem for me could be the the power plant in my StuG 111.
What is the organisers view about internal combustion engines in the hall?
Regards
MIke

Mike, I have had a response from Mecki, he says you would not be able to drive your model but would be able to display as a static model, you could even show its internals but unfortunately that’s about it.

Mark,

Thanks for taking the trouble to make enquiries. I was half expecting that negative answer.

I had a similar response from the show organisers. It appears that they have had a bad experience in the past with i/c engined car racers. They use two stroke engines which make a lot of noise, a lot of oil smoke, nasty smells and fumes. The cars filled the hall with smoke and everyone complained. It does not matter that I am using a high quality Honda four stroke engine, no smoke, no smell and less noise than a sound card, the answer is the same.....No

Despite that setback, I am still interested in attending Intermodellbau next year. I was clever enough to build in an electric drive motor alongside the i/c engine (a genuine hybrid power plant). It was there in case the engine failed, I have rarely needed to use it!!!! I will buy and fit some larger 12 volt batteries so I will be able to drive the StuG around on electric power and display the engine and transmission system without running the real internal combustion engine.

Thanks again for asking. Can you let me have some more details of the trip

Mike

Mike you have a PM.

For those interested the plan is cross on the Eurostar at 06:00 drive from Calais to Dortmund and arrive by 12:00 afternoon at the event followed by a full weekend, Sunday when the event finishes drive back to England, evenings will be spent with the members of RAG and at least 1 member of Battle Tanks Belgium in a beer Keller.

Steve, unfortunately we will have to pay for this, if it’s the same place used for the last few years the food is OK but not too expensive, the beer will be fine but for Karel coming from Belgium it may be too weak at a mere 5%

Hi Mark, I would also be well up for this if you still have room for me and a little tank.

Cheers
