Mr Race,

No you don't need a licence for one but trying to get hold of one these days is more or less impossible thanks to all the new laws introduced to make real guns harder to get.

The best thing would be to try your local gunshop (if you have one) and see what they can come up with. There were a few gunshops that would deal over the Internet or would post but again, you'd be hard pushed to find one now. Unless anybody knows different.....

So--you've got a nice new tank
To provide you with some fun
but the problem that you're having
is that---you haven't got a gun.

A gun, that is, that makes a bang
Revolver or automatic
The rules for which you'll find, young sir
Are very autocratic.

Blank firers cause a stir among
our elected, tried and true,
If you've not done the proper thing
You'll be seeing Boys in Blue

So do yourself a favour
Avoid getting in the lurch
Use your small grey cells, my friend
And check the thing marked SEARCH. :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:

its all to do with the, Replica Immatation Firearms act, passed through parliment. i also play airsoft as well as my rc tank hobby and i have to be registered on a national database and with my local site to buy electric airsoft weapons . i think it is even harder to buy blank firers . here is the current law. hope this helps ... 202006.pdf ... index.html

if you want a replica ,airsoft, blank firing gun you must be an insured re-enactor /or airsofter of sorts and caqn prove you need a realistic imatation firearm(rif)
but you can get around if your over 18 they can be bought in 50% day glo orange/grenn and this then no longer makes it realistic and there fore legal , this includes blamk firers!

I think altering it in anyway may make it illegal. Here in Canada we have the replica law here now. If you owned a replica gun, blank gun, or even some toy guns prior to Dec1 1998 you can still possess them but you can't lend, sell, or give it away. If you alter it in anyway you can be charged and fined. Even removeing the day glow orange insert can get you fined and that is a federal offense and if the judge is in a real bad mood could get you 10 years in the slammer.

This subject has been aired a few times , and as we know blank firers are getting more difficult to come by .
Race , if you fit one in your tank , pay particular attention to how the blank firer vents , as if it vents up the barrel , and the barrel has a through bore then you will be breaking the law as its possible to fire a projectile . Make sure that the barrel has at least a cross pin in it .

There was an occasion at a show a few years ago when as i hit the button to shoot the blank firer , a young lad ran infront of the tank i was driving and received a powder burn to his wrist . I was lucky that the incident went no further , i could have been in serious trouble .Since that day i have not used blank firer,s , and prefer to go for the electronic sound .
In my opinion the electronic sound sounds more like the real thing anyway, Nice big " boom "instead of a " crack "

According to the law , cartridges for blank firers , including black powder cartridges are classed as " fireworks " , and as such need to be transported in a " metal " container.
Hope this is of some help
