1/6 Scale Chain

Post by blythmags » Sun May 03, 2009 7:16 am

Hi everyone.....

Can anyone advise as to where I could obtain the correct measurement of chain to attach "essential bucket" (lol !) to back of 1/6 scale tanks etc ?, and does anyone have a source in which to obtain same ?.

Cheers

Best wishes

John

B&Q...plenty to choose from
Some aren't coated so if u put the chain into vinegar for overnight, then the chain will rust very nicely!

The size I used:

Hmmm, seen these chains on a number of 1:6th tanks but in ww2 photos only on French tanks and never on a German Panzer.
It is just as "never seen" as sandbags on German tanks.
Can someone please show me a ww2 photo showing also Panzer had them so I can change my mind on this subject.

Cheers

Are you sure it is sand and not corn in those bags...hehehe
Ok as the armor was so thin on early panzers it might happened there but how about the chains?

I also find myself being the only one outside UK/US writing here nowadays - also a sad fact and I wonder how come?

Sorry for getting off topic here but the whole forum has gone off topic more or less :?

3 days to find one tiny chain on an early in war Panzer II - Well done! ;)
Can you find a ww2 photo showing KT (or any other later in war panzer) had chains as well please?

Merlin

Yes in 2004-2006 the forum was quite a nice place to be at when you wanted to talk tanks...

Well it was a hard and good found!
Does it matter now if chains were photographed in KT or Tiger or not?
Now you've seen chains and sandbags on German WWII Panzers :P

Yes, chains on early in war Panzers (probably nicked from French tanks) yes, but as most of us build later in was (Panthers, Tiger, KT etc) and hang chains on them (well some of us do...) it would be nice to see a ww2 photo to confirm such an outfit.

Originally, you asked ''Can someone please show me a ww2 photo showing also Panzer had them so I can change my mind on this subject.

You got a WW2 photo of a Panzer tank with chains!
Now you want photographic proof on Tigers and King Tigers?
Just because you can't find a photo showing chains on a Tiger or King Tiger doesn't mean it never happened. After all, I doubt in the past that the Panzer crews said, 'O, we must take photos of everything we do on our tanks because in the future people might need to check if its authentic or not.' :)
Furthermore, I when they were out on the battle field they probably utilised everything and anything they found useful. But, just because we can't see evidence of it, doesn't mean it never happened.

It's only a chain! Not an integral part of the tank body work! Why so pedantic and picky?
