24 volt supply

Post by Chieftain 900 » Thu Oct 08, 2009 6:32 pm

Changing over to 24v and the motors similar to Mark 1.

On advice to supply 12 volt using and invertor which seems to give a nice clean supply.

The question is have lost some room due to bigger and more batts, at the moment I supplied all the 12 volt items from a 12 way fuse box, which at the time I though was a good move, now i think it is just taking up space. I need to power the following, sound board and 4 functions from it (sing bendini with digital control) 2x amps, smoker and lights.

Any suggestions please, have I gone ott and could simplify?if so how?

Run the main stuff off one 12 volt battery and the Benedini off its own dedicated battery (as Thomas advises). Otherwise use individual voltage regulators for each item (other than the Benedini) to drop from 24 volts to 12 volts.

Merlin thanks for reply, what i was trying to explain (badly) will it really matter if all the + leads are at one terminal, and the same for the -.

It'll be ok Bob if the + and - are on the same battery but it is not recommended that the Benedini unit and amplifier be on the main battery---could lead to "noise" from the motors visiting itself on the speakers.
